Scenes from the Shop!

We have lots of rainbows happening in our shop right now! Here's one of my absolute faves!

Look at all those Marbles...swoon! One of things I love the most about our shop is just the visual impact of all these beautiful fabrics next to each other. Talk about eye candy! Color itself can be such an inspiring thing. So if you're ever feeling unispired or unmotivated to work on that next project, how about stopping in the shop to take a look around?? You're sure to find some pretty fuel for your creative engine!

And maybe a few pretties to add to your stash! ;)

COMING SOON: Pure by Sweetwater

Hi there! I just wanted to drop by to tell you all about an adorable new line we just put online for presale!

This is "Pure" by Sweetwater for Moda and it's sooo precious! The brown and blue color scheme is sweet enough for girls and masuline enough for the boys! There are a lot of gender neutral prints in this line which makes it very versatile. I think it would be a fabulous line to do a little boy's nursery in, don't you agree??

We should be getting this line in the shop August 10th so if you order some now, just remember that it will not ship until then!

Shipping Policy + Some Love

Well, hey there! Hope you're having a great week so far! We got the nicest email from a customer last week and I wanted to share it with you today!

"Thank you so much for sending the fabric I ordered on July 17. It came in a timely manner and I am very pleased with it. However, I am writing to tell you that you have a "customer for life" because you advertised a S&H fee and adjusted it to the actual cost of the shipping. I really appreciate your consideration and will be speading the word about your website and service. Your website is on my favorites list and will be checking periodcally for your featured items. Thank you, again."

Susan Gray

The reason I wanted to share this with you is because we have a special shipping policy that I don't think many people know about. We will ALWAYS adjust shipping costs after we weigh your item! On our website there is a flat shipping rate but your card is not charged until we have weighed your purchase and figured out EXACTLY how much the postage will be and that's what we charge YOU for shipping! One more great reason to shop at Cabbage Rose!

And I just want to take this opportunity to tell you all how much we appreciate each and every one of you! You ladies allow us to continue doing what we love doing and we want to keep bringing you the loveliest fabrics, patterns, etc. forever! Thank you for supporting us and WE LOVE YOU!!!

Quilt Camp!

Last week we held our annual Kid's Quilt Camp! The girls had tons of fun making their first quilts and I thought I'd share some of the action! We only had two little ladies this year but it was just as much fun as ever!
Here's Anna #1, age 10.

And Anna #2, age 9. We thought it was awesome to have two Anna's!

Working hard and having fun!

Threading the needle can be tough, even for the little ones!

Anna #1's work in progress...coming along beautifully!

Anna #2's work in progress! Such pretty colors!

Some of their finished blocks! Simply gorgeous!

As a bonus project, the girls each made coordinating pillow cases to go with their new quilts!

Anna #1's finished quilt top and pillowcase!

Anna #2's finished quilt top and pillowcase!

How fabulous are these quilts??? What's fantastic is that each of the Anna's picked out all of the fabrics for their quilts and arranged the fabrics themselves! That's one of the great things about Quilt Camp, they're taught every aspect of making quilts from fabric selection to construction! I want to offer a great big thank you up to our very own Shirley Burt! She taught and helped out the girls the whole week and they had a blast with her. So, THANK YOU MISS SHIRLEY!!!

If you would like for your kiddo to participate next year, we'd love to have them! We hold it every year in July so at the beginning of next summer be sure to stop by and sign up! They're guaranteed to have a great time along with learning an awesome skill they can use for years to come!

Do you floss??

Hey hey ladies! I hope your week so far has been fantastic! I just wanted to drop in to share with you that we now have a DMC floss display in the shop!

Aren't they just beautiful! Embroidery floss is my weakness! Such pretty colors for very few pennies, you can get the entire rainbow without breaking the bank! At this time we are not going to be listing every single color of floss that we have, as that would take several weeks to put on the website! But if you have the number of the color you want, you can call up to the shop and we'll gladly grab you one or twelve and ship it to you! They're only 65 cents a piece so pick up some extras! ;)

Here's our number!

Handmade Life

So, the other day I went grocery shopping and I came home literally HATING plastic! Okay, maybe not hating all plastic as a whole but strongly disliking the icky plastic bags they give you? Yes. They're just so wasteful in my opinion! And they're pretty flimsy...the one housing my eggs broke on my way inside...3 eggs died an unnecessary death :( Plus you really can't reuse as many as you take home so you have to get one of those grocery sack catch-alls thingys that keeps piling up higher and higher...at least mine does. So, I was thinking why not make some reusable tote bags to take on grocery trips?

Like the New Leaf Folding Tote by Heather Bailey! What's great about this pattern is not only is it perfect for carting your groceries but each reusable bag folds into a compact wallet for easy storage! How great is that? I'm hoping to get a few made this summer to keep in my car at all times! Because I, for one, would love to never see a plastic grocery sack again!

Have any of you gone to reusable bags for your shopping adventures? If not, do you have any good ideas for reusing plastics sacks? I have about a million that I would LOVE to find a use for!

Scenes from the Shop

Good morning to you all! I'm beginning a new, hopefully weekly feature for the blog. It's called "Scenes from the Shop" and will highlight cute little vignettes that are in our brick and motar shop, here in Fort Worth. We're always changing things up and redecorating so I thought it'd be nice for every one of our amazing customers to see our darling shop!

This is our "clothes line". This is where we hang samples of some of our favorite clothing patterns! All these samples were made by some of the "Roses", the lovely and hard-working ladies who man the shop!

EDIT: The patterns hanging here are, from left to right: Fun and Frills Apron, Twirling Skirt, Britches and Bloomers, Nie Nie SkirtLily Top with Bandanna, and the Boutique Bottoms.
