Fabric Feature: Dreaming in French by Pat Bravo!

We just got in this beautiful new colletion by Pat Bravo of Art Gallery Fabrics and I am just head-over-heels for their dreamy Dreaming in French lookbook! So many chic an stylish ideas for using these gorgeous prints, you're sure to be inspired to make something pretty for your life!

I love the idea of displaying a favorite print as art in a decorative or vintage picture frame! You could choose several in different prints, all in one color of frame but in different sizes for a streamlined and modern display OR mix and match woods and metals, ornate and simple frames of all sizes for a more bohemian vibe! And how cute is that rag rug?? Seems like that would be a fun DIY with a few colors of Bella Solids!

What a pretty stack of throw pillows! You could make some with one print like the ones above, or you could make a side patchwork and the other side one print, you could applique a shape from a busier print onto a simpler print...the sky is the limit! Search your favorite homewares sites for inspiration! I love looking at the Anthropologie website for cool and interesting new ideas for home decor!

These prints are definitely too fab NOT to make some pretty clothing with them! Love the idea of a layered or tiered skirt! Shop all of our skirt patterns here to find the perfect style for you, your daughter or granddaughter! And browse through the rest of our Fashion & Tote Patterns for more inspiring projects for your Summer wardrobe!

Wow, do these prints really pop next to each other! Perfectly complimentary, every color, every print...this collection is totally balanced. Giving you lots of variation and bringing it all home with cohesive colors that just shine! Pat Bravo has designed a FREE QUILT PATTERN just for this collection. You can download it here!! Or cut tons of strips or squares to make a simple strip or patchwork quilt if you're a beginner! You could put it together in a weekend!

Create for Father's Day!!

This Sunday, June 17th is Father's Day and what gift could be better than one that was handmade from the heart? We love helping our customers pick out fabrics for gifts of all kinds from quilts and pillows to bags and accessories, so come into the shop if you're needing a little help with ideas!

Patchwork Tailgating Blanket

If Dad loves tailgating, make him a simple patchwork blanket out of flannel like the Wool & Needle Flannels to take to the games! Have each of the kids can sew a line of squares together and not only will they have made something themselves, they will learn how patchwork works! Maybe it will even get them into sewing!

I know that there are lots of Dads out there who just HAVE to have their Starbucks every day, so help the kids make him a fabric coffee cozy! A wonderful reminder of just how much he is appreciated every morning, what could be a better way to start his day? Use solids in colors Dad likes and the kids can embroider a sweet message to him on the outside (just write it on the fabric for them with a penicl and have them follow the lines) and add Father's Day 2012 on the inside for a wonderful keepsake that he'll treasure forever!

Curious Nature Quilt

Does Dad have his own man cave or den? Give it a little face lift with some simple new curtains and pillows for his favorite arm chair or sofa out of the sleek and stylish Curious Nature Home Dec fabrics! Or create the FREE Curious Nature quilt pattern out of cottons from the collection! You could create a handmade necktie (just take apart one of his old ones to see how it is done or use it as a pattern), a messenger bag for his laptop, an Iphone or sunglasses case, an apron if he loves to cook or grill, really the ideas are endless! Just think of what he loves and sooner or later you'll think of a way you can use fabric to make it even better!!
And if the Dad on your list is a quilter or sewer himself, grab him a Cabbage Rose Gift Certificate!! We've had so many more fellas coming into the Cabbage Rose for fabric and supplies for themselves over the past few years and we absolutely LOVE it!! Men can be so creative, it's so inspiring seeing more and more experimenting with quilting and sewing!!

Designers We Love! Jamie Wood

Last week in the newsletter we featured the super cute NEW collection called City Streets by Jamie Wood, an adorable line of fabrics made just for the little fellas in  your life! Well, we were delightfully suprised to learn that Jamie not only gets the Cabbage Rose newsletter but she actually calls Stephenville, Texas home and Cabbage Rose just happens to be her favorite quilt shop to visit when she comes to Fort Worth! How small is the world, right?? We were so tickled to find all this out, that we just had to share a little bit about her and obviously show off her new collection a little bit more!!

Jamie has been an artist from the time she could hold a pencil. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, the answer was always ‘An Artist!’. She lives in Stephenville with her husband and two rambunctious boys on their family farm. Jamie is thrilled to be designing fabric and raising two boys while living in the country provide endless inspiration! Designing boy-friendly collections is something that Jamie is passionate about, and with so few options for boys out there, its truly awesome when designers focus on creating for them! And she obviously LOVES making things for her boys!

Her passion is totally evident by all the fun colors and adorable cars, trucks and city scapes in this collection! She definitely understands what boys like to look at and how to coordinate in a way that is both boy and mom friendly! City Streets is perfect for baby quilts, bedroom decor like curtains, throw pillows and bedding, or a just a fun pair of pj pants for a your little car//truck lover! Jamie just recently did a bedroom re-do for her little ones with her last collection and it turned out super sweet! Be sure to check it out here for inspiration!!!
