Pressing Table DIY!

Home Dec fabric is some of my FAVORITE to work with! The toughness, the crispness...they just seem to add a little extra something to my projects for the house. That extra weight for a curtain or added stability for a chair cushion really comes in handy! And Riley Blake Designs creates some awesome prints in these heavier weights that are perfect for all these applications and we LOVE all the awesome projects that have been shared for their Home Dec blog hop! Especially this adorable and portable pressing table!

We have used these in our shop for the past few years but have always used regular quilting cottons and they give up the goat pretty quickly based on how much we use them but this one made with Home Dec fabrics I think will stand the test of time much better!

Using a inexpensive folding tv tray, some batting and your favorite Home Dec print of choice, you can create this super easy and convenient accessory that you'll use again and again!

Kids Camp 2015!

We LOVED doing this pattern with our Campers! Simple and easy construction allowed for them to really get used to the sewing machines and not be intimidated by them! Lots of straight lines can still create a stunner of a quilt when you pick interesting prints in lots of fun colors!

One of the best parts about Kid Camp is these young ones remind us how simple it is to quilt! We all tend to stress over every little fabric selection while kids seem to rush out and pick exactly what makes their heart sing! And leave it to a kiddo to show us that quilt in all one color can still look AMAZING!

I love the way this pretty and light quilt turned out! Starting with her favorite print as the centerpiece of the quilt, the rest of the fabrics came easily by going with colors in already in that busy design!

We just love how much that striped border between the tonals makes this quilt POP!!

Print mixing is not the most simple way for most adult quilters to go about making an awesome looking quilt, but Kids just seem to have a knack for it! I guess its because they know what they like and they have the confidence to put it all together! This one is SEW much fun with that bright pop of lime green!

Another stunning surprise was Olivia's gorgeous quilt full of awesome FLORALS!! All of those prints together just WORK and it definitely looks like something I could see in a bohemian bedroom!

Who doesn't love a great quilt full of neutrals?? This one came out AMAZING with her spot on color values that allow each print to really be seen for all it's worth!

With their quilts all folded up! Big graphic patterns look SO cool, even when you're only getting to see a portion of it!

In addition to their big quilts, they got to make some super fun Pillowcases!! Our Pillowcase Kits are one of the best ways to teach kids to sew, pick one up for your little one and you won't have to wait until next Summer to get them sewing!

Everyone also created some cute Christmas themed mini quilts or wall hangings for their bedrooms this holiday season! Love the panels everyone chose!

Last but not least, they all made some fun fabric bags! There was A LOT of sewing going on this Summer and we're sure they all just became makers for life! We hope your kiddos join us for next year's Kids Camp!!

I'm especially loving this beautiful Lattice quilt created by Rachel from Stitched in Color! There's a tutorial for this adorable quilt block in this blog post!

I really like what she did with the back! Just as interesting as the front and SEW simple to throw together, this is one reversible design I am definitely gonna try!

Use Birds & the Bees by Tamara Kate to make this Cute Summer Skirt!

Tamara Kate is quickly becoming one of our favorite designers! Here imaginative prints and incredible colors palettes are sew much fun to create with! Whether you're making yourself a cool new bag, redoing a bedroom or making some clothes for your kiddo, her fabrics are up to the task! And her new line Birds & the Bees is no different!

This super fun idea came from the Thread Riding Hood blog and I'm so about this as a perfect Summer outfit starter that's not only adorable but practical to play in as well!!

Skirts are cool and perfect for Summer outings to the park or the zoo but with added shorts, your girls can run and play and do handstands or cartwheels to their heart's content!

This tutorial utilizes two Free Patterns! One is the Fat Quarter Skirt also by Thread Riding Hood, and the other is the Summer Shorties by Baste + Gather! Putting them together was a fabulous idea don't you think?? We have got lots of fun Knits to create those shorties from!

How cute do they look in those Birds & the Bees Fabrics? Pretty darn cute if you ask us! You can complete this project in a few hours, lock yourself in that sewing room and crank out a handful for your little lady's new Summer wardrobe!

Happy Sewing!
