April Rhodes Pattern Giveaway with the Cabbage Rose!

 

We have been HUGE fans of April Rhodes ever since her very first design hit our shelves! The Staple Dress has proven to completely and utterly live up to its namesake and become a staple in any wardrobe it finds a happy home in! Caroline has made a whole heap of these simple and flattering dresses (can you say, addicted?) and has even taught a class! All of her students all looked amazing in their new dresses! Such a flattering dress for any body shape and size!

 

April recently released her second pattern, The Date Night Dress + Simple Slip and my, oh my...this one is as pretty as ever. I just love those flirty sleeves, perfect for a fabulous night out or a special event. Caroline whipped up one for herself with some GORGEOUS Amy Butler Rayon! What's really awesome is this is truly two patterns in one! You may need to create a Simple Slip to go under your Date Night Dress if you use a lighter and more see-through fabric like Voile, but its also darling on its own as a swimsuit cover up, a nightie or a sundress for those extra hot days!

 

 

We got to meet up with April at this year's Fall Quilt Market in Houston and she was sweet enough to give us one of each of her patterns to GIVEAWAY to our Cabbage Rose Customers!! Fun from the Weekend!

 

Happy Monday Everyone! Did you have an awesome weekend?? We sure did and we thought we would share a few highlights! So, our fearless leader and shop owner Karen O'neill was in Vegas this weekend with her hubs and spotted this awesome vintage sewing machine store! Everywhere you go these days there is MAD sewing machine love and we just can't get enough!

 

We have a couple vintage machines around the store and I'm pretty sure at least half the ladies that work up here at the Cabbage Rose have one (or two!) at home! We just adore the sensibility and simplicity of these older machines...they just don't MAKE things like they use to! We even have a Sew Fresh member who EXCLUSIVELY uses her hand-me-down, vintage Singer and she just loves it! And it sews quite beautifully!

On Saturday, Caroline taught her first Staple Dress Class and just LOOK at the beautiful dresses her students created!! I am literally dying over each one of these! They all picked such gorgeous prints! Can't you see this dress getting tons of mileage in your wardrobe? I mean, I kinda want one in solid black and one in a Navy Polka Dot...maybe one from a gorgeous Kaffe Fassett fabric and then, at LEAST ONE super fancy dress created with a beautiful voile!

You could TOTALLY make this dress wearable all Fall and Winter by using a print that will look awesome with layering pieces you already have in your closet! Think cardigans, leggings or bright and patterned tights tucked into awesome boots!

Pattern Feature: The Staple Dress by April Rhodes

 

 

I don't know about you but I have been on the lookout for a very specific, very simple dress pattern for ages and I think the search was finally over once I laid eyes on The Staple Dress by April Rhodes! It reads classic and modern at the same time and I'm pretty sure there will be 5 of these in my closet by the end of the Summer.

 

 

This dress has a lot of ease to the fit through the bus and hips while the shirring at the waist creates a flattering silhouette for any figure! You can create it with a classic straight hem or with the dramatic and trendy drop hem! Pockets are also an option, but c'mon...who wants a dress without pockets?

 

 

 

The Staple Dress can truly be worn anywhere depending on what fabric you use! I love the look of an eyelet, but it would be an awesome every day dress made in a neutral jersey! This is a great pattern to give a beginner seamstress or just anyone wanting to begin sewing for themselves, they will get SO much mileage out of this pattern and the simplicity should make fit a breeze!
