Point the Way to the Pool Pillow Tutorial with Sanibel!

Sanibel by Gina Martin is one of our favorite new Summer themed collections and this cute Lumbar Pillow Tutorial found on the Pattern & Hue blog is an awesome project for adding some Summer color to your space!

These look so great even if your normal décor is fairly neutral! Pops of color against white look really modern and the geometric style makes this pillow stand out even more! And if you want to add even more color and pattern, create several more simple standard size pillows for your sofa or patio chairs using a couple more of the prints!

Get Romantic with Flora from Joel Dewberry!

Joel Dewberry is one of our longtime favorites for modern prints that will make a living space pop and standout in a wardrobe. His latest collection, Flora is no exception...fresh, lovely and perfect for Spring! Get inspired with these fabulous FREE PROJECTS designed especially for this collection. Like these Vine of Roses & Tip Toe Through the Tulips Pillows which are simple, yet interesting designs that add a refreshing dose of color to a neutral couch!

Or this bright and graphic Stepping Stones Quilt...an amazing addition to the end of your bed or in place of a headboard! I've been noticing lots and lots of pretty textile art being used as creative headboards and quilts take the cake as my favorite option! Imagine how pretty this would be with an all white bed set...save a few handmade matching pillows. ;)

This Patchwork Pillow is a little more basic but still, in these fabrics it makes a great statement. It adds so much warmth to that white sofa too, don't you think? And I dig that bit of a boho vibe that patchwork in bright and bold prints always gives me. Like in that ONE bedroom everyone on facebook DIED over. So good.

Another fabulous quilt design, the Floral Dance Quilt reminds me of abstract art or an optical illusion. And with that mod border, it really takes on a groovy vibe!

Who doesn't need a new "every day" bag? This Pocket Tote is a spacious design for when you're out running errands, commuting with the kids or you have a long day of gym, work, happy hour ahead of you. Bring your extras along in style...I think it would look incredible with the whole body of the bag in that graphic Aztec print and going for dark brown leather straps. You could repurpose some old belts (first learned that trick from Amy Butler), or you visit your local Tandy or leather crafting store. You can find small pieces in reasonable prices. Just make sure you get a needle for leather to sew it using your machine!

Speaking of Amy Butler, I found a few more projects that she designed for Violette that I wanted to share! The Around the World Pillow is an awesome accent to any living space. Use it as a floor pillow, extra seating for a party or even use it as a dog bed.

City Squares is a cool graphic quilt that looks incredible in jewel tones and white! I wonder if the lighter prints in the collection would look good with a gray background...

How cool is this Woven Pillow? This is a super cool statement piece and an awesome project to add to your archives! Imagine what you could do with a gradient of solids! Make this baby and add some serious handmade magic to your home.

Fabric Feature: Out to Sea by Sarah Jane!!

I'm pretty sure we're all near cuteness overload but this collection just HAS to be talked about! Ever since we saw Sarah Jane's booth at Spring Market we've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Out to Sea and now that its here we don't know what to do with ourselves!! Too many creative ideas just spring to life in the presence of these adorable maritime inspired prints!

I guess that's why Sarah Jane decided to host the Out to Sea DIY Blog Tour featuring this adorable collection! There is just SO much you can do with these fabrics, its a little crazy!

LOVE the Narwhal Pillow!! Perfect if you're redoing a kids room in this collection or just to add a little whimsy to an already nautical decor!!

I totally laughed out loud with glee when I saw the Narwhal Wall Mount! Such a fun and creative way to bring some pattern to the wall in a wee one's room!

Does your little one love pirates?? Make them this super sweet Pirate Doll with the tutorial by One More Mushroom! How cute would it be to give a pirate themed gift, complete with an Out to Sea quilt and this little guy as a new member of their pirate crew!

The Anchor Pillow by Tea Rose Home would look totally adorable on a neutral couch or your favorite chair! I love all things nautical and this fun pillow is a easy way to add a punch of it into your decor!

I just LOVE all of the Map Panels, each panel comes with 4 maps on it so you can create fun placemats, a map pillow or two, or frame it for wall art in a nautical themed room!! You can download the instructions for this Rounded Cushion here!

How about making Amy Butler's Must Have Pillow with your favorite prints from the collection for a nursery? The pattern is ON SALE this week too!

And don't think this line is just for the kiddos!! You really can't get any more chic than the Anchor Skirt! Doesn't it look like something straight from Anthropologie?? I love how Cotton & Curls styled it with a simple gray tee to really let her creation stand out! Even if you're not into the nautical prints, that's one skirt pattern you'll come back to again and again!

I absolutely LOVE a peter pan collar and Cotton & Curls strikes again with this detachable version in the pretty Sea Flowers print! What a fun way to dress up a plain shirt!! You could even embellish with a little button in the center to make it your own! I think I might make a few as Christmas gifts!

There will be more projects shared throughout the month on Sarah Jane's blog so keep checking back there every Wednesday for more inpsiring ideas for using this collection! We hope you're all just as charmed by it as we are!

Create for Father's Day!!

This Sunday, June 17th is Father's Day and what gift could be better than one that was handmade from the heart? We love helping our customers pick out fabrics for gifts of all kinds from quilts and pillows to bags and accessories, so come into the shop if you're needing a little help with ideas!

Patchwork Tailgating Blanket

If Dad loves tailgating, make him a simple patchwork blanket out of flannel like the Wool & Needle Flannels to take to the games! Have each of the kids can sew a line of squares together and not only will they have made something themselves, they will learn how patchwork works! Maybe it will even get them into sewing!

I know that there are lots of Dads out there who just HAVE to have their Starbucks every day, so help the kids make him a fabric coffee cozy! A wonderful reminder of just how much he is appreciated every morning, what could be a better way to start his day? Use solids in colors Dad likes and the kids can embroider a sweet message to him on the outside (just write it on the fabric for them with a penicl and have them follow the lines) and add Father's Day 2012 on the inside for a wonderful keepsake that he'll treasure forever!

Curious Nature Quilt

Does Dad have his own man cave or den? Give it a little face lift with some simple new curtains and pillows for his favorite arm chair or sofa out of the sleek and stylish Curious Nature Home Dec fabrics! Or create the FREE Curious Nature quilt pattern out of cottons from the collection! You could create a handmade necktie (just take apart one of his old ones to see how it is done or use it as a pattern), a messenger bag for his laptop, an Iphone or sunglasses case, an apron if he loves to cook or grill, really the ideas are endless! Just think of what he loves and sooner or later you'll think of a way you can use fabric to make it even better!!
And if the Dad on your list is a quilter or sewer himself, grab him a Cabbage Rose Gift Certificate!! We've had so many more fellas coming into the Cabbage Rose for fabric and supplies for themselves over the past few years and we absolutely LOVE it!! Men can be so creative, it's so inspiring seeing more and more experimenting with quilting and sewing!!
