A Circle Skirt Tutorial

Today I was searching the interwebs for fun and fast tutorials and I think I may have found the jackpot on the Made blog! I personally am all about skirts for Spring and Summer since they're light, airy and so much fun to wear! Circle Skirts with elastic waistbands have been all over stores so why not take this trend to the next level and make your own with your favorite fabrics. I'm thinking any of the pretty prints from Central Park, Sweet Nothings or Chrysalis would be absolutely adorable! These are SO simple to create a pattern for, especially the way Dana breaks it down. Plus, once you have your pattern, you can knock out 4 of these puppies in an hour! Talk about an economical wardrobe. ;)

Loving the adult version! (Check out Dottie for super cute polka dots!) She even has a tutorial for dying elastic for an extra special pop! I promise, you won't find anything nearly as cute at a store. And who doesn't want the satisfaction of making something yourself? Especially when the end result is so fabulous and takes practically no time at all!

The Charm Clutch!!

Lately, I've been crushing HARD on Amy Butler's bag patterns but none so much as her absolutely fabulous NEW Charm Clutch!

It's just the picture of perfection when I think of a clutch! I personally can't stand those teeny tiny clutches, I'm always forgetting I have them and they're barely big enough to fit a tube of lipstick! This sweet clutch is definitely big enough to hold all your important, can't-leave-home-without-it stuff with a little room left over! Plus you can totally customize it with 2 different length handles and different options for closures! Susanna and I have been sort of freaking out over this pattern ever since it came into the shop and being the awesomely crafty gal she is, she decided to whip herself up one!

OMG! Isn't it just fabulous?? She decided to make it with Oh My by Sanae and I just adore the final result! It reminds me of those big Hawaiian print bags that were HUGE a few years ago in resort towns! I think Susanna is bringing back a handbag trend...huge, bold, colorful florals...you heard it here first, ladies!

Civil War Reunion!

This week we got in Barbara Brackman's new Civil War Reunion line and I have it is quite lovely! What I love the most about reproduction lines is the history behind the patterns and designs, it's magical being able to recreate the same style quilt from centuries past with the same style of fabrics! Barbara Brackman is a actual quilt historian and I love reading all the little history details she includes when talking about her collections! You can read all about Civil War Reunion here AND download a FREE Union Star Block from her here!

Quick Project!

I just had to show you all this super sweet onesie that the girls revamped!

Its just a store-bought onesies embellished with this SUPER cute crocheted flower from Riley Blake and a sweet little button! All you'd have to do is put the button on top of the flower and then sew the button on like normal. Two minutes to a new look isn't too bad if you ask me! Embellishing is a great way to give an already-owned item a completely fresh face! Try it on a simple cotton tshirt, tea towels or whatever you like! Be sure to share a link to your revamp project in the comments! I'd love to see what you all are creating!

Holy Cute!

Jenny is at it again! She's made another super adorable, super easy outfit for Miss Katilyn and I have to say...this has officially got to be the cutest thing I've ever seen!

Holy cute! I'm LOVING this little outfit! Jenny made it out of Sweet Nothings, a new line from Riley Blake that has us all swooning! The Shoulder Tie Topper is a sweet and simple top that could also can be worn as dress, who doesn't love that! Those Boutique Bottoms are just so darn cute plus its the most versatile pattern ever! You can make them as pants, shorts, capris or even pajama bottoms! Plus it comes in sizes 6m-6yrs so you can use it for years to come! Now if that's not getting some mileage out of a pattern, I don't know what is!

Just choose some bright and funky coordinating fabrics and you'll have the snazziest dressed kiddo in no time! I suggest looking through our Michael Miller prints for some inspiration. And don't forget to make it your own with fun embellishments, buttons, or trims!

Happy Creating! ;)

A Charming Gift Idea!

Okay, so I officially found my new go-to gift idea for anyone I want to do a little something for! Everyone loves a bottle of vino and what better way to say "I'm not JUST giving you alcohol" than to put a bottle in one of these handmade Charming Wine Gift Bags! I think it's that little extra thought that totally makes the gift more than ordinary and with these simple to throw together bags, you'll be dying to give all your pals an extra thought! ;)

All you need is 1 charm pack, 7/8 of a yard of cordinating fabric for the inside of the bag and you can whip up 4 of these bad boys! You can get the the full instructions for this fun little project at the Moda Bake Shop blog!

New Kits!

Hey everyone! Lately we've been totally in love with all the new quilt kits that we have so I thought I'd share the latest and greatest ones!

We just recently kitted the oh-so-adorable Binkies on Broadway quilt and I'm just smitten! You tend to see a lot of ducks, bears, and puppies in baby patterns and fabrics but I just LOVE these elephants! Lily & Will is still one of my favorite fabric lines for baby (and we're really excited about Lily & Will II)! This quilt is a very cute twist on boyish and amps up the sweet factor just a pinch! The browns in this quilt really anchor the whole design and keep things from getting too precious! If you've got a first son or grandson coming into the world soon, this is the perfect quilt to make! This is one of those quilts that could easily become an heirloom piece and I'm just too in love with it!

The Collections - Faith Quilt Kit is a sight to behold! The design is actually a reproduction of the 150 year old quilt that actually inspired the Collections for a Cause - Faith fabric line! And now with this kit, you can recreate it too! Use beautiful reproduction fabrics to create these intricate and lovely details and have a true representation of history in your home!

Oh man, I have to say this Oasis Quilt Kit is probably my favorite! I'm such a sucker for hexagons! And in these sweet and soft prints, the combo is just heavenly! This is the perfect Summertime quilt and will undoubtedly bring warmth and cheer to whatever room you use it in! I would love to see this quilt hung up on a wall or hanging over a love seat! Bonus: this kit also comes in an adorable matching tin lunchbox! Gotta love a little extra like that! ;)

If none of these kits quite tickle your fancy, be sure to browse through our entire collection! We have kits for every style and every occasion so you're bound to find a new project just perfect for you!
