Make it With Minky! A Simple Baby Blankie featuring Michael Miller Fabrics!!

As you all know, its holiday crunch time! Christmas is literally 22 days away and I might be freaking out a bit! Handmade gifts are definitely the direction I am going this year, but I still have half my list to go! So, I've recently been looking all over for cute and different handmade gift ideas that can be whipped up in a short amount of time! And in my wanderings through DIY Pinterest Boards and blog archives, I found this wonderful tutorial for a simple cotton and Minky baby blanket on the Practically Functional blog!

You should be able to work it to be any size you like but a baby size is still great for kiddos to cuddle on the couch with! Use this funky multi-colored Chevron and select one solid Minky that matches! Doesn't that orange just make this print POP?! Love this one for stylish older girls or baby's mod and bright world!

Cuddle your favorite little fella and impress Dad at the same time with this cool Mustachioed Man fabric on one side and a Black Cuddle Dimple Minky on the other! We be he'll love using this blanket even when he's much older! And you can't beat a project that grows with a child!

Ladies love a good floral and this one from Michael Miller is no exception! Lots of different colors and scales of flowers make for a really interesting and fun look don't ya think? And even a deeper shade of one of the colors found in that print would work for the back! To my eyes, Purple is the least used color in the print and could use the bolder punch on the back! I think it especially works if your print's background is white!

Once you read through the tutorial, you'll see just how simple this project is! But with good fabric like these new prints from Michael Miller, no one will pay any mind to how little effort this handmade gift required! Thanks to Practically Functional for sharing her project and how-to!

Handmade Holiday: Travel Accessories in Loulouthi!

If you're anything like me, the requirements for making something are simple yet stern...it needs to look good AND be useful! That's why I just had to share this tutorial from Sew4Home featuring Anna Maria Horner's gorgeous Loulouthi prints (we still have some in stock!).

Almost every woman I know uses some sort of hot tool for her hair on a regular basis, if not every day! So why not create a fabulous carrier for your friend's Chi straightener or big barreled curling iron! They'll be absolutely delighted to have a safe way to transport their precious beauty cargo from now on! Plus who doesn't love gorgeous organization, am I right??

When it comes to traveling, I like to keep things light and tight! I want to bring as little as possible, keep it as organized as possible and still look as fierce as possible! A great way to do that while on the road or living out of a suitcase is with jewelry! You can change the whole look of that dress you wore last night with a new necklace and little cardigan!

But it's always SUCH A PAIN to keep jewelry nice and neat when traveling! That's why this 8 Pocket Jewelry Pouch is a fabulous gift idea for the fashionable jetsetter on your handmade Christmas gift list! They'll be able to take all of their baubles and jewels with them in a sectioned pouch that keeps everything from getting tangled! Who could ask for more?? Maybe pair it with an awesome new piece of vintage or costume jewelry to really knock her socks off!

They also have wonderful tutorials for a Roll-Up Makeup Brush Case and a Cosmetics and Toiletries Case that would make great gifts on their own or the best travel-themed gift EVER as a set! Pick your favorite fabric collection, Sunnyside by Kate Spain (I mean, it IS on SALE!) or use some Loulouthi like these samples! No matter what you make them with, you're sure to wow your loved one with a handmade Christmas gift like these fab travel accessories!
