Fig Tree's New Collection Avalon is HERE!!

We just unpacked Avalon, Fig Tree & Co. latest collection from Moda Fabrics and let me tell you ladies, this one is a winner! The prints, the colors, the whole collection is Joanna at her finest! We are especially loving those blues!!

Ever since we saw her beautiful section at the Moda Booth at Market this past Fall, we were so excited to get some new shades to work into our Fig Tree selection and we just LOVE the way her palette works in this new grouping! Doesn't it just exude the spirit of Spring & Summer?

        Sail Away

If you want to create something absolutely amazing with these prints, grab one of Joanna's new quilt or table runner patterns!

Goodness, her quilts are just TOO lovely! But if you're not quite feeling up for an entire quilt, use some of these great prints for fun Spring & Summer clothing! Make the Perfect with Pockets Skirt in any of these prints and you'll be wearing it with a little V-necks for errands and with a cute tank and necklace for days out!

Or make this adorable top like Caroline!! We just got this pattern (The Esme Top) from Sew Liberated and we just LOVE the way it looks! Any of the smaller Avalon prints would look awesome!!

Sew, what are YOU going to make with Avalon?? Share with us in the comments or on Facebook!

Urban Mod by Art Gallery Fabrics is here!!

I've got to say, when we get  shipment from Art Gallery Fabrics in, it's a little like Christmas around the Cabbage Rose! We are literally tearing through the boxes as fast as our fingers will let us to gaze upon the gorgeous prints of their latest groupings and especially, to touch it! Oh, because if you didn't already know, the element that truly sets Art Gallery apart is their totally delicious 100% Pima Cotton! Seriously, once you Feel the Difference, you'll never want to make clothing with anything BUT their fantastic fabrics!! Especially once you see the prints in the new collection Urban Mod!!

How cute is this top?? And it really doesn't look that difficult! Grab a simple shirt that you already have in non-stretch fabric and trace the outline of the garment onto some craft paper, freezer paper, Do Sew or whatever you have handy! Then, draw an asymetrical line on your pattern where you want the two fabrics to meet and cut it out (remember to add seam allowances!!) Then pick your two coordinating fabrics, lay the pattern pieces over the fabric and cut out your 4 pieces accordingly! Then you can piece the two front pieces and two back pieces together to create the full shirt shape again, then you're ready to sew them both together! Finish the sleeves, hemline and neck  easily by rolling the unfinished edges twice and stitching! Easy peasy yall!

One of my FAVORITE ways to bring some color and pattern into a room is with wall art and there's probably no easier, CHEAPER or cuter method than framing some awesome fabrics in varying sizes of embroidery hoops! It looks especially cute in a craft or sewing room but these fabric circles lend a modern look to any space so they are a great way to add some pizazz to a bedroom!

Any of the prints in this collection would be FAB as a flirty skirt for Spring!! Why not take Caroline's Perfect with Pockets Class THIS THURSDAY, 3-5pm and you'll learn how to create an adorable wardrobe basic that looks anything but, PLUS you'll get 10% OFF any fabric and supplies you purchase for the Class! Talk about a great incentive to learn something new!

Make a bunch of easy throw pillows in one print or do a little patchwork on one or two and accent with solids! Recover a chair, make some curtains, a Gum Drop Pillow...anything will be that much cuter dressed in Urban Mod!!

Love this simple yet stunning quilt design! Patchwork is an easy way for those with a modern aesthetic to experiment with quitling! AND, the folks over at Art Gallery have made this super cute pattern absolutely FREE!! You can download the PDF here!

Handmade at QuiltCon with Caroline (Part 2)!!

SO, Caroline manned the Cabbage Rose booth last week/end at QuiltCon in Austin and I'm sure you've seen by now, that this crafty lady made every.single.one. of her amazing outfits for the conference! Um, yeah, we feel like slackers now too...BUT these are projects that all of us can master so use these awesome pictures as motivation to start making some rocking threads for your wardrobe! And be sure to go follow her on Instagram or on her blog Sew Caroline, she is SEW inspiring!

Now, without further adieu, here's what Caroline wore on Day Three of QuiltCon!!

We're all just about DYING over this Shift Dress by Favorite Things!! Especially in the perfect Michael Miller Stitch Square print that Caroline picked out for it! This dress truly reads like an awesome boutique find, not something you whipped up over the weekend! To us, feeling good in what you're wearing is super important when making handmade fashions and this is a design you could feel amazing in at every type of event from a wedding to a date night or brunch with friends!

And how sweet is the Washi Dress by Made by Rae (pssst, we're RE-STOCKING this pattern after selling out at QuiltCon!)? Such a simple staple for Spring time in a fabulous floral like that Splendor 1920 English Garden Feisty print by Bari J. for Art Gallery!! Or make it in something a little more subtle and make it your go-to day out dress! No matter what fabric you use for this pattern, you're going to love the result that you get! Here's another take on the pattern that Caroline made with Jennifer Paganelli's Crazy Love Fabric...WE CRAZY LOVE IT!!!
