A Thread of Thought

Good morning ladies!! Last night was the Marie Bostwick Book Signing & Presentation and I just have to say it was incredible! She was such an inspiration to listen to and brought the entire room to tears on various occasions with all of her wonderful stories! Her words were nothing short of uplifting and empowering, she really left us all so thankful to be in the same position as the subjects of her novels, surrounded by fabric, surrounded by quilts and most importantly, surrounded by women...who have all walked similar paths and experienced similar heart break. And what's magical about being apart of a quilt shop is being able to hear those stories, to help mend the hearts by nothing more than talking fabric or dishing about latest projects! Watching creativity mend people's lives, like stitching together a quilt is a beautiful process that we are so incredibly blessed to have witnessed so often thoughout our time as Cabbage Rose. So many women have come through our doors over the years seeking a safe place, a haven or a getaway...and we were all so thankful for being reminded of what it means to be apart of quilt shop. Thank you Marie, for sharing your story and the stories of others. It's so good to be reminded of how women banded together, with the comforting help of fabric, can overcome any and every obstacle!

Threading the Needle

I would love to encourage you all to pick yourself up one or ALL of Marie's books! The themes of her Cobbled Court series are centered around these very ideas and are just SO encouraging as well as entertaining! She was wonderful enough to sign the rest of the books that we had left over so if you would like pick up your own SIGNED COPY, we have some available here and in our Books section! And to all of you who came out, thank you so much! We hope she left you all as encouraged and inspired as us! WE LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Kid's Camp Quilt Show!

Our first week of Kid's Camp was a total success! Our campers had a blast learning the ins and outs of quilt construction while enjoying the ability to stretch their creative muscles with picking out fabrics and deciding what goes where! And look at those finished products! Everyone's quilt top came out so amazing! All of the parents were wowed by how much their kids had learned in one short week at the Kid's Camp Quilt Show this past Friday!

Here they are showing their BONUS pillowcase project!

The campers were in love with all of our tissue paper flower decorations all over the store so we gave them a little tutorial and they each made their own to hang in their rooms! Too cute!

If you have wanted to get your kids into sewing or at least have them learn the basics, then sign them up for our final round of Kid's Camp! They'll be creating the same big star quilt you see in the first picture which is a great first timer project! Camp is open to kids ages 7-15 and includes all the fabric they'll need, quilt pattern, class instructions, yummy snacks and few extra surprises! It's only a month away so SIGN UP your kiddos now!

Kid's Camp Progress!

We are having SO much fun with our Kid's Camp students so far and we are blown away with how fabulous their quilts are looking!!

Look how beautifully they're coming together! It's so awesome seeing what these little minds can achieve with direction and encouragement and that's just what we give them! I cannot wait until Friday to see how they all look completely finished!

These kiddos are working hard and learning lots creating the big star quilt!

Every child gets to pick out their own fabric which allows them to really express themselves creatively! We believe that giving kids an opportunity to create something with their own hands, that reflects their own personality, really gives them a true love of the quilting craft and can set them on a road of constant creating! And we just love seeing new creative minds blossoming!

Our Kid's Camp students enjoying a break!
If you would like for your kiddos to learn quilting basics and get a foundation for creating, then sign them up for Kid's Camp! We still have a few spots open for the July 25-29 round of camp and would love to see your little ones there! You can get all the info and even sign your child up right here!
